Participation and costs
Participation is possible for members of the Dutch Astronomers Club
and its sister organisations, as well as for qualified others with
interests in astronomy and space research, such as students who have
started their research, (science) journalists, etc. Astronomical
institutes are expected to have a representation of students in
reasonable proportion to the representation of staff, and to cover the
(reduced) costs for the students. Participants who can not get
reimbursed otherwise, such as astronomers seeking employment but
also science journalists, can request support via a NAC grant (see
below).
The costs for participation in the conference (from lunch on
Wednesday until lunch on Friday) per person are:
- €230 for those in a 2-person room
- €300 for those in a 1-person room (if available)
- €100 for students (in a 2-person room)
When registration is completed before
February 9 you will receive a discount on your
registration fee and therefore you will only have to pay:
- €210 for those in a 2-person room
- €270 for those in a 1-person room (if available)
- €90 for students (in a 2-person room)
After March 10 an additional €50 will be charged to compensate for booking costs and no room can be guaranteed.
Staff members and graduate students can get their expenses
reimbursed as "binnenlandse dienstreis" with their parent
Institute. Students must turn to the management of their Institute
for reimbursement.
NAC grants
Also this year the NAC will attribute grants for conference participation at a reduced price. These grants can be used by participants, such as scientific journalists or job-seeking PhD students. If you think you qualify for a NAC grant, you can write a request before March 1, 2009 to: Dr. G. Hammerschlag-Hensberge, Astronomical Institute, Science Park 107, 1098 XG, Amsterdam, e-mail:
