Dissecting the Galactic Halo (NOVA Colloquium)
Larger structures in the Universe are thought to form hierarchically from the mergers of many smaller structures. This talk will present three topics that exploit this nature to learn about the Galaxy: (i) results form a survey of clouds of stellar debris; (ii) a method to combine Spitzer and Gaia data to measure the potential of the Milky Way; and (iii) prospects for recovering Galactic accretion history from abundance-space studies.
